This has been a summer full of upset victories, overtime thrillers and rigorous battles on the court. We are now left with the final two teams left standing in the NBBL Elite Division.

The regular season lived up to everything the NBBL could have asked for this season. The new eight team model demonstrated that any team from 1 through 8 was capable of winning on any given night.

The #7 seed On Point are compiled with a number of free agent pick-ups from the NBBL Combine that have been steadied around the dynamic trio of team captain Denham Brown, Junior Cadougan and Alex Johnson. The chemistry throughout the team was lackluster to start the season, losing their first two game by a total of four points illustrated that this team was capable of winning once they became a cohesive unit. Team leader Denham Brown reminded the league at the mid-way point, "come playoff time, we will be ready." A quote that has remained true. On Point was able to take out #2 seed BSN in their quarter-final match up. Followed by defeating the #6 seed Hamilton Hitmen. On Point has shown their true ability to play together as a unit and former team Canada member Denham Brown and current team Canada member Junior Cadougan have turn it up another notch for these playoffs, making team On Point feel very confident that this is their YEAR.

The #1 seed Hamilton 905's started off the season losing their first game on opening night by nearly 20 points to BSN. Their roster had the making of championship material written all over it but after that opening day loss their were questions surrounding the teams ability to come together as a unit. Following that week the team vowed to never lose again. A promise they have been able to keep as they enter the Championship game this Thursday July 16th @ The Rise Centre (411 Elgin St). Pulling out close game after close game, the team is currently on an 8-game winning streak and are currently the hottest team in the league. Last season named the Hamilton's Finest, this group lost to the Toronto 3D in the NBBL Championship game. The 905's were able to take out their rivals in the semi-finals this past week to move onto the NBBL Championship. Last season's MVP Tyrone Watson has been in MVP form again this season and is in search of his first NBBL Title. Tyrell Vernon is a seasoned NBBL veteran that knows what it takes to win a championship in this league. Vernon captured the inaugural NBBL title and an MVP award in 2013 and will be leaned on for his leadership to carry this group to the promise land.

The season has been memorable from opening night, to the All-Star festivities and now we cap the season off with the best Championship match-up in NBBL history. The mixture of Olympic, NBA, NCAA, NBL-Canada and CIS talent that will be on the floor during this game is a prime reason why Canadian basketball is growing at a rapid pace, NORTH OF THE BORDER.
