By NBBL Staff

The Summer Sixteen season is officially upon us as an exciting new season of the NBBL is set to tip-off. Hamilton is the original stomping ground for basketball battles that leave a storied timeline of some of the greatest ammeter sports battles of all time. 16 teams, split into two incredibly balanced conferences, are ready to prove they have what it takes to capture the NBBL Championship. These 16 teams will battle it out starting this Monday, May 16th at McMaster University. Teams were drawn at random and scheduled accordingly.

Meet the Teams

  4,5,6

4, 5ive, 6ix are back this summer looking to make a statement. During the Fall League, 456 entered the playoffs with an undefeated record but were upset by the eventual champions Nine-O-Five in a thrilling contest. This group has made a few additions that hope to propel them to a championship. Members of this team made it to last summer's Advanced Division final but fell to the Cyclones. Each season they're knocking on the door of winning a championship but somehow seem to fall just short down the stretch of the playoffs. With a few minor tweaks to the roster, is this finally going to be their year?

 Caution When Wet

Caution When Wet make their NBBL debut with an impressive roster from top to bottom. This group sports a balanced inside-out attack with several players who have pedigree and will be a force week in-and-out for opposing opponents. The NBBL insider believes that the big men on this team are arguably the most skillful within the Division and could be a handful for smaller teams in the league.

Grind Time

Grind Time enters the NBBL among the fastest teams that will be competing this summer. It will truly be a grind to go against this team each week. Look for this team to continually push the tempo and force opponents into turning the ball over for easy buckets in transition. This team will look to tire you out and grind out wins late in the game.

La Familia

Previously known as the Snipers, La Familia has a unified front group expecting to walk out with the title. This team has the makings of being among the final few battling for the NBBL championship. Three-point shooting, dominant low post scoring and athletic wing play make this an imposing roster. The NBBL insider has this team finishing among the top five. For a team that struggled last season, this revamped roster is among the most impressive recruiting turnarounds the league will see this season.

First Game: vs Level One at 8:00pm @ McMaster University Burridge Gymnasium

Level One

The formerly known Merciless team has resurfaced as Level One. Travelling down from the Peel region this group brings a tough and gritty playing style. Merciless exhibited among the best teamwork and chemistry that helped to propel them to a great inaugural season within the NBBL. Level One will look to build on their success from the Fall with new additions Jahmal McQueen, Alvin Smalls and Rashawn Simpson. The new additions provide them some added height in the frontcourt along with additional ball handlers to deal with the full court pressure that many teams used last summer in the Advanced Division.

Parlez De Nous

"Talk About us" or as the french would say "Parlez De Nous," Hamilton's number one men's fashion supplier made their NBBL debut this past fall within the Advanced Division, ultimately coming up just short in the Championship against Nine-O-Five. PDN will have a team in each division within the NBBL this summer and will attempt to pull off the trifecta and capture all three division titles. They have built rosters that expect nothing short of a championship. It's championship or bust for this franchise with the talent they have put around the organization there is no reason why they can't make a valued effort.

First Game: vs Switchn' Clips at 6:00pm @ McMaster University Burridge Gymnasium

R24PECT

R24PECT have undergone a rebranding from their former group titled the Spartans this past summer. The Spartans had a notable first season but will be looking to improve on previous results and continue to turn heads this summer. Young, athletic with so much upside. The NBBL insider likes this group and believes they'll be among the middle of the pack when the season is all said and done. However, as they continue to develop over the course of the season, they very well could end up being a sleeper team late in the year making a playoff run.

Switchn' Clips

Clean and cut to perfection, Switchn' Clips has been killing the competition in the barber chair for years. the Clips have made some key additions and revisions to their roster from the group they fielded during the Fall League and are expecting a more successful run this summer. This is a diverse, physical group that will look to be imposing week-to-week.
